We are your one stop shop for professional driving simulation training!
Ghost Transportation Services, has been working with Custom Driver Simulation Training (a division of Custom Courier Co. Ltd.) for some time. We have found the simulator training to be a good and useful tool in developing our least experienced drivers with skills in backing up, with winter driving, and in defensive driving.
The simulator also helped us with identifying other areas of concern with all our drivers; for example: any legal issues with speed control, passing emergency crews, or passing through construction zones. The simulator also identified areas for improvement with our drivers in areas like fuel economy and efficiency.
Custom Driver Simulator was able to accommodate and customize training to suit our very specific needs. The team is very receptive and helpful and our employees found that the content was relevant to the work they do. As well our employees say that the facilitator was knowledgeable and demonstrated expertise. Overall our employees have enjoyed learning on the simulator and have increased their skills.
The best thing I like is the fact that this training can all be done without exposing anyone to injury or harm, and damaging any property or equipment. I would recommend the simulation training for anyone that is looking into getting their commercial driver’s license for the first time or for help in skill development.
One of my drivers made a comment, “I can push the envelope to get a feel of what would happen without any real consequences.
What can the simulator teach new students or Class 1A drivers?
The Virage VS600M simulator can be used to teach brand new students all the elements that would be taught in a traditional Class 1A course. The simulator is capable of measuring and evaluating new and experienced drivers to determine whether the driver has strengths or weaknesses in all aspects of their driving.
What are the biggest benefits of learning how to drive Class 1A trucks on a simulator?
Safety: Students/drivers are able to to learn the basics on the simulator before they get in a real truck. Just imagine not having to worry about grinding gears, hitting another vehicle or person while learning the basics.
Gain Confidence and Reduce Anxiety: Students are able to gain proficiency and learn the proper techniques before getting into a real truck.
Is the simulator a recognized training tool for training Class 1A drivers in Saskatchewan?
The simulator has been recognized as a supplemental training tool, but has yet to be recognized by the governing body to be included in the MELT (Mandatory Entry Level Training) program.
