Welcome to the new driver app
As you know, Custom Courier and SENDR are coming together, and part of that is moving both companies onto one operations platform. This app is the first step.
This guide covers what’s changed and why, gets the app set up on your phone, then follows one fake job all the way through: a restock for Prairie Peak Supply, six large boxes from their warehouse to Northgate Market. You’ll see it offered, picked up, delivered and paid.
What's changed: manifests and shipments
In the old app, everything was a trip, and a trip could have any number of stops: a pickup here, three drops there. Freight for three bookings at one place meant one trip card with “multiple” stops.
Now, work comes in two pieces:
- A shipment (S-…) is one load going from one pickup to one delivery: defined cargo, from here to there.
- A manifest (M-…) is the whole job, the customer’s booking. It holds one or more shipments.
So a run that used to be one trip with a pickup and three drops is now one manifest with three shipments, all picking up at the same warehouse. Every piece of freight knows exactly where it’s going, so the app can tell you what to load, what to drop, and what’s still to do at every stop – no more confusion.
Additionally, we’ve made it so that your work day reads as a route. The app lines up the stops from all your shipments, allowing you to re-order them how you’ll drive them, with one stop per physical location, however many shipments start or finish there. The manifest is where the job lives: its paperwork, its shipments, and what it pays you.
New in v2: manifests that hold shipments, in place of trips with a list of stops.
Quicker every day
Arriving and leaving take a single tap. The app tells you what’s still needed before you go, so a forgotten signature or photo doesn’t mean a call back later. Your photos are safe even when you lose signal. And your pay is right there, job by job.
It’s a new foundation for both companies, and we’ll keep improving it based on feedback that we receive.
Getting set up
Exactly the same as the old app:
- Open the web application URL in your phone’s browser.
- Open the browser menu and choose Add to Home Screen. From then on, it opens like any other app.
- After sign in – open the notifications menu and tap Enable Push Notifications, then click allow in the system prompt so you hear about new work as soon as it’s offered.
A job is offered
New work shows up under Offers on the Work tab, with everything you need to decide: the customer, the times, the vehicle and what you’ll be carrying. Tap Accept or Decline right on the card.
Once you accept, the job joins your itinerary: your day as one route, in the order you’ll drive it. Here, a pickup at the warehouse, then a delivery to Northgate Market. Each stop is one place, even when you’re carrying freight for several bookings there.
New in v2: accept work from your itinerary, and see your day as one route, grouped by place.
Before you head out
Tap a stop to see where it is and who to talk to. Directions opens the location in Google maps, and Call rings the contact on site.
The stop also shows which manifest the freight belongs to, here M-6. Tap it to open the manifest: the customer, the service, every pickup and delivery, what the job pays, and its paperwork. A manifest holds one or more shipments; tap one, here S-9, to see it on its own, with both of its stops, their contacts, any notes, and exactly what you’re carrying.
Back takes you where you came from, and Today always brings you home to your itinerary. On a day with lots of work, Reorder lets you drag your stops into the order you’ll actually drive them.
New in v2: move between your day, a manifest and its shipments in a tap.
At the pickup
Arrive
Tap Arrive. The time fills in for you, and you can adjust it if you need to. The stop moves under Now. Open it to see exactly what you’re picking up and where it’s going.
The To complete list shows what’s still needed before the job is done, here and at the next stop. If the count on the dock doesn’t match, fix it with Edit cargo. If the dock hands you something extra, add a drop from the stop’s menu.
Scan the paperwork
- On the manifest, tap Document, then Scan, then Open full-screen scanner.
- Hold the page in view. The scanner finds its edges for you. Take the shot and tap Continue.
- The scanner straightens the page into a clean PDF. Check it, then tap Upload.
- Choose what it is, such as Bill of Lading, and tap Upload.
It’s on the manifest right away, where the office can see it. Scanned the wrong page? Remove it and scan again. You can remove what you uploaded, but not what the office attached. Already have a PDF on your phone? Upload takes that too.
Get the signature and go
Tap Tap to sign, hand over your phone, and have them sign and enter their name. Tap Save signature, then Depart. The pickup tucks away under Done.
New in v2: one-tap arrive and depart, a clear checklist, and paperwork scanned straight onto the manifest.
At the delivery
Proof of delivery
Arrive with one tap and open the stop. This delivery needs a photo and a signature. Tap Add photo, then Take photo, and use the in-app camera. Photos are saved to your phone first, so a dead zone won’t lose them; they send once you’re back in coverage.
Sign and complete
Get the signature. One signature covers every shipment you’re dropping at the stop. If you try to leave with something still missing, the app takes you straight to it, and you decide whether to go anyway.
With everything captured, tap Depart, then Complete shipment. The job is done, and your day shows both stops finished.
New in v2: photos that survive a lost signal, and one signature per stop.
What the job pays
Open the job from By manifest on the Work tab. Your pay shows what you earn for it, and the breakdown below shows how it adds up.
Once the office closes it out, the job lands on your next pay statement. Under Pay you’ll find every statement; open one to see the jobs it covers and what each one paid. The Dashboard gives you a quick look at your earnings this period, last period and year to date. Treat it as a guide: your pay statement is the official record.
New in v2: your pay on every job, and every pay statement broken down job by job.
Your account
Under Account, keep your name and phone number up to date, see your vehicle classes, and send yourself a password reset link.
That’s the new driver app, from offer to payday. If something gets in your way out there, let us know. We built it to keep getting better, and your feedback is what makes that happen. Drive safe.
